Solar Vehicle & Automated Irrigation

Led the physical build on both. The vehicle chassis was designed and printed in-house across several iterations as the drivetrain packaging changed. The irrigation system pairs soil moisture sensors with a microcontroller-driven pump.

The problem

ENGR 100 asked for real hardware that moved and sensed — not a slide deck about what we might build.

Approach

Solar vehicle. Chassis designed and printed in-house, revised whenever the drivetrain packaging changed.

Irrigation. Soil moisture sensors feed a microcontroller that drives the pump only when a moisture threshold says water is needed — not on a blind timer.

Outcome

Two working prototypes and a lot of lessons about packaging, iteration, and leading the physical side of a student team.
